172 | The crystalline deposits of salt (potassium and sodium) shimmer in the light producing various shades of pink to red. The best time for the effect is, of course, dawn or dusk. Not only was the time of day not optimum, but there was considerable cloud cover. Nonetheless one can appreciate a reddish hue to the water, but nothing compared to the optimum effect |
